Carton boxes are the standard packaging solution used in the process of product transport. Have you ever wondered why this is so? It is easy to take the good old carton box for granted in the fast-paced world of distribution and shipping. However, when we analyse how carton boxes are composed, we get a better understanding of why this medium is privileged over others. They are a more eco-friendly option, light in weight and provide protection to the product during transport.
Packaging designed to limit product damage
The form of a packaging follows its function. The primary function of carton packaging is to prevent damage during product transport. The corrugation in the layers of carton provides cushioning during transport. Let us take cupcake boxes as an example. When we developed our cupcake boxes, we made sure to include a cupcake holder in the box. Fitted inside the box, the holder provides a snug compartment in which each cupcake can be securely placed. The same principle is applied for boxes that are made to transport glass-bottled products: dividers are used inside of the box to prevent impact within the carton container. This greatly limits the risk of breakage. The weight of the product to be packed is also a determining factor for the packaging. Single wall cartons can hold up to 10kg while double wall cartons can hold much more in weight.
Product type & destination determine the box type
Where are you sending your products?
Are you planning for overseas product transport or are you delivering to local customers? The end-destination of your packaged products will affect your choice of packaging. For overseas transport, we usually recommend double-walled boards. These provide robust protection, and enable stacking of boxes with decreased risk of damage. When dispatching goods overseas by containers, double wall carton is essential. For local delivery, single wall carton provides sufficient protection. You may rely on the expertise of our development team to make the proper decision for which packaging best fits your requirements.
Double-fluted cardboard sheets provide additional protection
