In recent decades, the corporate landscape has undergone a significant transformation. Dakri Carton’s 30 years existence in Mauritius allowed it to witness successive changes, which the company chose to embrace, acknowledging the unique contribution women bring to the table.
Historically perceived as male-dominated, the business industry is heading towards the right direction of inclusivity, despite yet having room for improvement in the years ahead. Indeed, according to figures from the UN in respect of The State of Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Indian Ocean Rim, only 47% of the workforce in Mauritius was female, in 2020 with, on average, a 14.6% pay gap as compared to their male counterparts.
Women are, however, turning the tides, as they break through barriers and excel in their respective fields. One such industry where women have played a pivotal role is the cardboard box sector, and Dakri Cartons is proud to highlight and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in shaping the present – and most importantly – the future of our company and the broader corporate world.
At Dakri Cartons, women occupy various different posts going all the way to the top of the company. They are Storekeepers, Purchasing officers, and bring their expertise and drive to all departments, from Health & Safety to warehousing, all the way to being Head of Finance, and Head of Production and Customer Service.
On this day which celebrates women’s rights movements, we celebrate the unique perspective these women bring and celebrate their achievements. The strong sense of collaboration, dedication and empathy they bring to the workplace is invaluable in fostering a positive and inclusive company culture, which ultimately enhances productivity and employee satisfaction.
