Sukpak Ltd, one of our main and long-standing customers, has agreed to testify about their partnership with Dakri Cartons Ltd. They specialise in the food industry. We are grateful to Mrs Sharmeen Rojubally for granting us his time for this interview.
You have been with Dakri Cartons Ltd. for over 20 years and counting. Could you please describe your customer experience?
“Sukpak believes in a partnership type of relation, and we have been through a lot together with Dakri Cartons Ltd. Sukpak Ltd suffered from all the difficulties that Dakri Paper and Products Ltd endured during its buying over of MSM Corrugated. The first two years after August 2014, when Dakri Paper and Products Ltd acquired MSM were very difficult, both for ourselves and for the Dakri Team. But we have come a long way since then and now Sukpak Ltd is also reaping the benefits from the new structure Dakri Cartons Ltd, which is more efficient than all the previous entities. And since then we have never looked back …”
How did this partnership begin?
“Sylvain Lavenerable, the company Manager, visited Mr Hanif Dakri in Bambous for case supplies. However Mr H. Dakri was satisfied with his custom base, at that time. In 2007, Nazir Dakri visited Sukpak with Mrs Somaya Dakri, and requested an opportunity for supplying some of our cases. From then on it was a consistent increase both in terms of volume and variants of carton products that Dakri Paper and Products Ltd (Dakri Cartons Ltd since March 2017) supplied to Sukpak Ltd but our main supply base stayed with another company.”
Why did you choose our company to supply you and what made you stay with us?
“Nazir (CEO) was very much open to innovations and trials. We worked together on different types of papers and Nazir offered us the opportunity of making changes in our packaging formats and fluting, shifting from B/C or B/B to B/E. These changes were very much appreciated by our customers because we enabled them to match what they were receiving in Europe and at the same time reduce dead space in containers. In a particular year, when our then main supplier had a major technical problem, and we shifted our supply to Dakri Paper and Products Ltd. The team was very helpful and supportive in ensuring that we received our cases so that we could continue working and exporting. But that also meant that within 5 weeks we wiped out Dakri Paper and Products Ltd stock of paper.”
What evolution and changes have you noticed in our company / service / products during these 20 years working together?
- massive investment in technology and equipment to shorten the facilitate the manufacturing process at Dakri Cartons Ltd resulting in shorter lead time for us,
- ability to react to issues and problem for a long term solution e.g Colour /ink inconsistencies resolved by investing in an in house ink making unit,
- investment in an ERP that allows us to have a better visibility of our scheduled deliveries, and thus plan production better at our end,
- a more structured project development process.
1 thing that has not changed and that is very appreciated is that we could then reach Nazir, and now Somaya at the end of a line for a chat in case of problems, and they are very prompt at resolving issues.
If you had to describe our service in 3 words, what would they be?
- Innovative / “avant-gardiste”
- reliable
- consistent
