Dakri in numbers : our commitment to sustainable development
This 5th June 2022, we celebrate the World Environment Day. This is a familiar event for the Dakri Cartons family, as our business is anchored in sustainable development practices. We are also on a continuous transformative journey to optimise our processes in harmony with the planet we inhabit.
100% : Biodegradable
Such is the guarantee our corrugated cardboard offers. In fact, it wholly consists of natural materials, which implies less pollution, but also, a less significant contribution to the saturation of landfills.
75% : Recycled raw materials
Our FSC MIX-certified paper uses a combination of virgin fiber from FSC-certified forests, recycled paper, and/or FSC-controlled wood for a continuous use of the fiber, which avoids waste, and limits, as much as possible, deforestation.

30-40% : Of our energy needs
Thanks to incentives by the MSGD and CEB, Dakri Cartons is about to kickstart the installation process for solar panels that should cater for about the third of our energy needs, thus considerably reducing our use of non-renewable energy.
This is a great step forward that complements our consistent efforts towards minimising our carbon footprint during production. Some other conservative measures include electrical forklifts, as well as our entire fleet, which is gradually transitioning to hybrid and electrical vehicles. Moreover, our machines are chosen for their minimal environmental impact, and their motors have the highest efficiency ratings according to European energy performance standards.

7 months : Of use
This is how long most of our cardboard boxes perform (excluding those used for food packaging). These boxes are often re-used in supermarkets for stocking or are kept in a dedicated area for customers to use them instead of plastic bags. We can confidently say that our cardboard boxes are hardly ever used only once in their lifetime.
A dynamic contribution to circular economy
“Circular economy is the very foundation of our industry, as our products are 100% recyclable, biodegradable and made of organic materials!”, said CEO of Dakri Cartons, Nazir Dakri… But this contribution does not stop there. Dakri Cartons is also committed to supplying The Good Shop – the local leading second-hand consumer goods brand – on a monthly basis with cardboard boxes.
“In a changing environment, there is nothing more dangerous than remaining immobile”, said late French president Jacques Chirac. An idea that seems to be embedded in Dakri Cartons’ dynamic of change to set better and more sustainable development models.
